I bought myself one of those USB flash memory devices to backup my critical data because I got tired of waiting for my stuff to copy across my network, especially when I do it so frequently.  It rocks.  It's on my keychain and my keychain doth get tossed around, dropped, and even wet (though I have yet to submerse it completely and hopefully the gods shant let that happen).   In any case, you can imagine my excitement when I heard laptops baked with solid state(a.k.a flash memory) hard drives may soon be a reality for us peasants.   Though I sometimes feel like simply chucking my Dell Inspiron against my brick fireplace, I do try to take reasonable care of it.  However, the fact remains that it occasionally gets jostled and it certainly gets moved around from room to room, outside, and occasionally to my office (a.k.a "the can").  Come on, like you never have.  The first thing I did when I got it was experience the thrill of mobile computing at its finest.   So anyway, a laptop that can live through some manhandling without reporting "Error reading from drive C: ", gets an A+ in my book.  I've lived through my share of data loss, so I always have backups for my backups for my backups.  But nothing upsets me more than when I move my leg and the thing shuts off, never to turn back on again (without a new drive that is).
